Park City Film Series

Kite Runner Movie Poster

A few weeks ago I got a gift card from my company to Main Street Pizza and Noodle in Park City, UT. Kristie, Richie and I ate there last year during the Sundance film festival, and happened to run into Matthew Lillard, an actor in Wicker Park (one of Kristie’s favorite movies). They’ve got some killer specialty pizzas.

So now that we had dinner squared away, I jumped online to find a Park City calendar of events. One of the things listed was a film series put on by the Park City Film Council, with a one-night-only showing of the limited release film, The Kite Runner. The Kite Runner was one of our Book Club selections last year (and one of my fave’s at that), so I was pretty excited to watch it and see how the screenplay would be adapted to film. We invited some of the crew and were excited to get Harry, Sarah and Theron on board with us.

So after the misery that is finding a parking spot anywhere near main street, we settled down to some good eats. Kristie and I ordered the Hot and Spicy Burrito Pizza (sounds weird, I know, but there were no refried beans, so it was cool) Some passer-by took a group shot for us:

The movie was featured at the Park City Public library…check out the film series calendar if you’re in the area, it’s got some great selections.

Anyways, the movie was terrific–heart-wrenching, just like the book. Even though the theater release was limited, I’m sure it will be easily accessible at your local neighborhood Blockbuster. See it. Unless you’re illiterate, cause it’s got subtitles. Well, if you’re illiterate and understand Farsi, I guess that works too.
