Thanksgiving Weekend ’08

Wednesday night we went to Ogden to meet up with a bunch of the Tanner side of the family for dinner. It was really fun to see everyone, including the Green’s (who were visiting from Montana). Later that night we continued on up to grandpa’s farm in Preston with Lacey and Cole along for the ride.

On Thanksgiving we got to hang around with the fam and eat a terrific meal. It was relaxing to not have to worry about work, school, etc. Kristie talked me into going running with her, which is a big accomplishment these days.

On Friday morning Kristie, Cole, Lacey and I drove back down to Provo so that Lacey could practice stunting. Lacey was a natural, just like her big sis. Cole and I had fun playing football. That night Kolby proposed to Kristie’s cousin, Tiff at a parade in downtown Logan. They’re going to make a great couple…we’re so excited for them.

Saturday and Sunday were more lazy, fun days. I set about polishing off the rest of the mountain of Thanksgiving pies with decided success. It was hard to go home, even though it felt like a really long vacation.

Poetry Soirée

Jer and Ked summed this one up perfectly and included a picture…so I’ll be lazy and link to it instead.

Roque and Roll

This Saturday we got a chance to meet up with my old friend Tiago Roque and his wife, who are here in the United States on vacation from Brazil. Along with us were two other couples that knew the Roques as well, including Andrew Skeen and his wife. Tiago, Andrew and I first met when we were serving together in a small Brazilian city called Dias D’Avila. We had some fun times there, out in the mata. Lunch was a blast, catching up and reminiscing about the past. I told Tiago that next time we’d have to meet up in his neck of the woods…I’d love to get back to Brazil.

Cougs and cousins

Tonight we caught some of the BYU men’s b-ball game at the Marriott Center before taking off to play volleyball with Nathan and Kendra and some friends. Unfortunately, the locks to the building had been changed, so we never got a chance to play. Around that time, Kristie’s cousin Tiffany called to let us know she was in town and needed a place to crash. Of course we were more than happy…but we ended up going over to Nathan and Kendra’s, staying up till 3:00am and crashing there.

Idaho Visit

We had a chance to drive on up to Boise this weekend to spend a couple quick days with the fam. On Saturday the boys watched BYU crush Air Force while the girls went shopping.

Wanna see what it looks like when you blow air though pressed lips and take a picture? I knew you did:

If there was any question that we’re weird, I think this officially resolves it. Credit Lacey with the brilliant idea.

Kristie’s Freshman Reunion

Tonight Kristie met up with a four of her girlfriends that she lived with freshman year for a reunion dinner at Ottavio’s. I was not invited, thus I have little to report. However, I have it on good word that they all had a wonderful evening. I promise I’m not jealous. Here’s a picture:

Kristie and I agree that many of our best friendships were formed our first year in college. The dorms provided a comfortable nucleus in a large school that felt very akin to family.

House Party & Movie Nightcap

Tonight we met up with Harry and Sarah to catch Dan and his band play at a small house party. It was great show and a great crowd…I even saw my old friend, B, who I hadn’t seen in forever.

After the show we we’re planning on making italian soda’s and watching Moonstuck (per recommendation of Sarah’s dad), but Smith’s was out of the right kind of flavored syrup, so we just did the latter. Cher and Nicolas Cage in an Italian comedy? I didn’t know how it could work, but it was surprisingly funny.
