This morning I completed my first triathlon, the Rock Cliff Tri at Jordanelle Reservoir near Park City. I know it’s only one…but I’m hooked. I’ve already signed up for another–the Moab Xstream off-road triathlon on Labor Day. Here’s a quick recap:
We got up at about 5:30 so that we could pick up [my support team] Nathan and Kendra and leave by 6:00. Despite taking a wrong turn on the way and forgetting my race numbers at the car (Nathan–thanks for saving my life), I was ready and stoked by race time.
It started out with a half mile swim in the reservoir:
Followed by a transition to a 14 mile bike ride:
Followed by a 5k run (actually a little less due to the fact that the trail was damaged by rain the night prior.)
I ended up coming in fourth for my division with a time of 1:17:44…which I was really pleased with.

I had a blast, and it kicked my butt. I can’t wait to do another.
[P.S. Thanks again N&K for providing gear, coaching, moral support, a training buddy, etc, etc...couldn't have done it w/ out you guys]

Congrats Tom! That is awesome!
