13.1 Down, 26.2 To Go

In case you were wondering, the half marathon didn’t kill me afterall. Sorry for the temporary absence.

So, we did it. I completed my first 13.1 mile race, and Kristie, her third. As expected, she rocked it. She took 2nd place in her age division and maintained a stellar 7:24 pace. Check her out sporting the new hardware:

I, on the other hand, ran it at a respectable 8:09 pace and was just happy to finish. Around mile nine, I, with a straight-face, offered a kid twenty bucks if he’d sell me his bike on the spot. You should have seen his face, he didn’t know what to make of me. Even though I spent the whole race waiting to be done, I found enough energy to full-out sprint the last block to the finish line. Then I threw up on my shoes. Classy.

Here’s a picture of us after the race:

And as an extra bonus, lucky Kristie won a free 6-month Gold’s Gym pass in a random raffle. Not too shabby.

And in other news, we’ve decided to run the St. George marathon in October. Since there are so many people that sign up, there’s a drawing to enter, and not everyone makes it. If we do, the SEO company I work for has offered to sponsor us!

Oh crap.

This just in:

“03/24/08, Associated Press – Provo, UT. Kristie McConnon has talked her weak-minded husband into running a half-marathon with her in two weeks time. When asked what in the world he was thinking when he agreed to *pay* someone to allow him to perform the agonizing exercise that he could just as well do for free, he merely stated: “oh man, I don’t even know.” Check back often for further developments. Details regarding the race can be found at run13.com.”

Wedding

WE GOT MARRIED! The wedding was on February 15th in the Salt Lake Temple. We were lucky enough to catch a break in the weather and it turned out to be a sunny Friday morning. We are really grateful for all our family and friends that were able to be there! Thanks we love you guys! And for those reading this that weren’t able to make it, you were missed, and we love you too! Here are a few pictures from the wedding day.

After taking pictures with out photographer we headed to Bountiful for a luncheon that my Mom, and her sister put together for us. Thanks Girls!! The food was awesome… we even had little M&M’s with our names on them (Thanks Mom McConnon). For those of you who would like to see our wedding slide show (with better sound this time! Lol) we’ll try to post the video sometime.

The reception in Eagle was wonderful. We were humbled by how many friends and family stopped by to celebrate with us and our families. A special thanks to Kenny Tanner for his terrific work behind the lens.
